About our new ballet inspired by NY Times #1 Bestseller, SOMEDAY
Notes about this new ballet and the process by Artistic Director, Elizabeth Flores:
Words from the author:
Dear Elizabeth and Bonnie,
I just sat down on the couch and watched the whole video. How beautiful! From music to choreography to the beauty of ballet itself. What a privilege to be backstage with you all, watching the rehearsal and the movement and life and laughter and work that goes into it.
You are amazing. The way you shepherd the little ones through their motions and work with them with such tenderness and care is inspiring. I don’t have that kind of patience, and I so admire people like you who do. You’ve created a wonderful experience for the children who study with you. They’ll never forget it.
What a joy it has been to be part of this ballet, even in a small way. I think back on that day in Barnes and Noble and smile every time. Keep us posted on everything!
How absolutely beautiful! Even this little bit fills me with wonder that our book can be turned into a ballet, with these lovely dancers and lovely music. Thanks to you, and thanks to your whole creative team: Alan and Chris and Maestro Aurelia and Bonnie. I’m truly thrilled that this is the happening, and that you chose our book.
“Thank you for sharing—we love the collaboration!” –Peter
Shortly after your music started, Ben asked, “Is it a lullabye?” A little later he said, “Is it a love song?” I told him yes.
We both really enjoyed your music and the entire experience. Ben said he “loved” seeing the ballet dancers. He loved shaking hands with the conductor. He loved hearing the individual instruments during the performance, and he loved seeing the musicians carrying their instruments at the end of the concert. He loved meeting your sister.
A total success for both of us.
After the performance Ben and I took a long walk along the promenade beside the Hudson.
Thank you again for inviting us and for letting us share this special event with you.
